On Friday morning, the hours of rehearsing our three-part harmony National Anthem culminated in an 8:30am, 1 minute, 39 second "Star Spangled Banner" for the Florida Federation of Fairs Convention. Then it was, "Farewell, Daytona Beach" & two of us were off to the airport!A good day to finish my latest read: "Surprised By Joy, The Shape Of My Early Life" by C.S. Lewis. He writes (lol to myself on the plane):
"I could never have gone far in any science because on the path of every science the lion Mathematics lies in wait for you."
Who can relate? ;)

Doing some perusing on your blog. C.S. Lewis is one of my favorite authors...
And Daytona Beach is one of my favorite places (well, any beach, really!)
Really?-Well cool [splash]!
Still hearing "40 More Falls" chorus playing in my head. repetition is good!
Dear Steve, One of my favorite books! I love the story about riding a train and looking out the wrong side of the car for a landmark/destination. Suddenly, it occurs to C.S. that he is looking 180 degrees in the wrong direction. His next thought is that Jesus had been there his whole life but he hadn't seen him. He realizes at that moment that he has embraced Christ and become a believer.
I love that because it is not the usual prescription, and that seems more authentic-- that all of us find faith in our own way and not necessarily a going forward at the alter moment. Thanks for citing such a wonderful piece of literature! Dan
